The Catholic Community Kitchen in Olympia serves lunch and dinner six days a week to all “comers.” They serve approximately 382 meals per day: 100 lunches, 150 dinners six days a week, and 132 meals to homeless locations five days a week. That’s 2,160 meals per week, and each one requires a fork or spoon wrapped in a napkin. Volunteers in teams of six prepare the food, serve it, and clean up. Our simple but helpful and necessary task will be to wrap the forks or spoons in napkins. A dozen TCSRA volunteers can easily wrap 500 forks in about an hour, all the while chatting and enjoying one another’s company.
