Mini-Grant Application

The Pierce County School Retirees’ Association is pleased to announce that the school Mini-Grant Program is available again this year. The program is open to districts in Pierce County on a rotation basis. This year the program is only being offered to elementary school teachers in the Clover Park School District.

Do you have a great idea and not enough money or materials for the project? You can apply for a Pierce County School Retirees’ Association mini-grant. Grants will be awarded in amounts from $40 to $200 depending on the requested amount and the excellence of the plan submitted.

The deadline for the applications to be received is June 8, 2021

1.Future Educator’s Scholarship

Who

  • College student residing in Pierce County,  completing Sophomore year in college.(or equivalency such as Running Start). 

Criteria:

  • Eligible to attend a 4-year college/university in the Fall as a full-time student with Junior standing the Fall of 2024 or student of Sophomore status presently attending a 4-year institution.
  • Intend to pursue a career in teaching or in an education specialty (various therapists, counselor, psychologist).
  • Complete all documents as required on the washboard.org site

Value:

  • 4 $1500 scholarships

2) Chuck Abernathy Memorial Scholarship for High School Seniors

Who:

  • High School Senior. Must be a resident of Pierce County. Graduation: Spring 2024.

Criteria:

  • Intend to pursue a career in teaching or in an education specialty (various therapists, counselor, psychologist).
  • GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Complete all documents as outlined on the washboard.org site.

Value:

  • $1000,00

3) Chuck Abernathy Memorial Scholarship for Student Teachers

Who:

  • College student who is a resident of Pierce County, Washington.

Criteria:

  • Full time student
  • Has met the criteria for student teaching in the Fall 2024.
  • GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Complete all the required documents as outlined on washboard.org. (You must register for a new account or log in with your current account information)
