Thurston County School Retirees\u2019<\/span> Association (TCSRA)<\/strong>, which is Unit 28 of the Washington State School Retirees\u2019 Association (WSSRA), was organized on September 18, 1954, by five dedicated retired teachers. They had monthly sack-lunch meetings in their homes, and their main concerns were pensions, legislation, insurance, health care, and community service. <\/span>Now with more than 1,000 county-wide, retired and active school employee members, TCSRA, along with WSSRA, provides:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Protection of pensions and benefits through lobbying for legislation<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Mini-grants for TCSRA members who are certificated or classified employees in Thurston County public schools\u00a0 (We extend our sincere gratitude to the Nisqually Tribe for generously funding our 2025\u20132026 mini-grant program. Their incredible support means that every single applicant received their full requested amount.)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Scholarships for high school seniors planning careers in education as well as scholarships for student teachers & interns<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Pre-retirement & educational webinars<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 A monthly newsletter, a quarterly association news magazine, & an annual member directory<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Health and consumer information<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Community service that benefits children, the elderly, and those in need<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Monthly luncheons & other opportunities for keeping in touch and making new friends<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We consider ourselves educators for life. If you are or have been a certificated or classified school employee\u2014from superintendent to school nurse or behavioral psychologist to bus driver\u2014you are welcome at the Thurston County School Retirees’ Association.<\/span><\/p>\n
